Explosion Proof Flood Lighting

Explosion proof LED flood lights are typically used in outdoor areas that are exposed to flammable gasses, vapor, liquid, combustible dust, or ignitable fibers. Similar to traditional LED flood lights, these fixtures have highly flexible mounting and can essentially be used as a spot light to cast directional illumination toward a desired area.

The difference between explosion proof flood lights and regular flood lights are the extra layers of protection and increased durability in order to meet explosion proof electrical standards.

Explosion Proof Flood Light Applications

Explosion proof floodlights are a highly versatile explosion proof lighting fixture that can be mounted on virtually any wall with a junction box or on any flat surface using an arm mount. They can also be used in conjunction with pole or pendant mounts. As a result, there are a very wide range of applications for this type of light. Here are some of the most common uses,

An oil refinery is shown with piping and storage tanks illuminated by explosion proof LED lighting fixtures

A power plant is shown with steam coming out of the exhaust stacks, illustrating the importance of explosion proof lighting and electrical shielding
Power Generation

A metal foundry and treatment plant is shown pouring liquid metal into a casing mold, illuminated by explosion proof LED lights

Class 1 Division 1/Division 2 Lights

Chart showing the different classifications for explosion proof lighting, and the typical environments each would be used for

Our square shaped LED flood lights for hazardous areas are Class 1 Division 1 (C1D1) and/or Class 1 Division 2 (C1D2) certified. This means that these fixtures are designed to withstand flammable gasses, vapor, or liquids, as well as lower risk particles such as combustible dusts and ignitable fibers/flyings. In other words, these lighting fixtures can operate in virtually any hazardous environment.

Explosion Proof Flood Light Mounting

Ceiling Mounting - Explosion proof square LED flood lights can be mounted on ceilings inside hazardous areas. The fixture can be mounted to the ceiling using a U-shaped yoke mounting bracket; mounting accessories are included with the light.

Hook Pendant Mounting - These LED flood lights can also be mounted to the ceiling using a standard hook pendant mount similar to UFO high bay lights.

Wall Mounting - These flood lights can also be mounted on other flat surfaces such as walls using the yoke mounting bracket.

Wall Mounting w/ Junction Box - Wall mounting is a very common use for these flood lights. The fixture is also compatible with a junction box.

Pole Mounting - Explosion proof flood lighting fixtures can also be mounted on light poles either inside or outside a facility. You can install this fixture to a light pole by punch tapping on the top of the mounting bracket and tightening the set screw onto the pole and using the chain to balance the fixture. The pole length can be adjustable.

Arm Mounting - The fixture can also use a simple arm mount to latch onto walls or other flat surfaces. The arm mount is a separate accessory item. Please check the product specification sheets for more information.

Stanchion Mounting - Another mounting option for explosion proof floodlights is Stanchion Mounting. In this case, the fixture will be propped up on an adjustable pole and used to illuminate a broad area.
