In this case study, we explore the installation of specialized lighting within a 300-foot tunnel measuring 6×6 feet. The project involved the strategic placement of twelve 20W Class 1 Division 1 (C1D1) Jelly Jar lights, mounted horizontally to minimize interference with the walkway. Results
The Jelly Jar lights achieved an average illumination of 6.7 foot-candles, with a maximum of 44 foot-candles and a minimum of 0.7 foot-candles, surpassing the recommended average of 5 foot-candles. This enhancement not only improved visibility and safety within the tunnel but also significantly reduced energy consumption and maintenance demands, aligning with broader sustainability objectives.
