Water Treatment Plant Interior Lighting Layout

Here’s an example of an LED water treatment plant lighting photometric layout crafted by our professional LED lighting engineers. In this layout, we used 15 150 Watt UFO High Bays, 4 of which have 30W Emergency Backup Battery Unites. The layout was conducted on a 70 x 50 ft WasteWater Treatment Plant with 23ft Wall and 30ft peak.

Water Treatment Plant Exterior Lighting Layout

On the exterior, three 60W LED wall packs were used on the baydoor, two 60W LED wall packs were used in the processing area, and three 40W led wall packs were used to illuminate the walkin door area.

Waste Water Treatment Plant Lighting Information

Lighting plays a critical role in wastewater treatment plants, ensuring safe and efficient operations. Here's some information about lighting in these facilities:

Safety: Wastewater treatment plants often have areas with potentially hazardous conditions, such as wet floors and chemical storage areas. Adequate lighting is essential to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of workers.

Compliance: Many regulations govern wastewater treatment plants' lighting requirements, especially in areas where hazardous materials are handled. Compliance with these regulations is crucial to avoid fines and maintain a safe working environment.

Types of Lighting: Different types of lighting fixtures are used in wastewater treatment plants, depending on the specific area's needs. Common types include LED, fluorescent, and high-intensity discharge (HID) lights. LED lights are becoming more popular due to their energy efficiency and long lifespan. In fact, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, discusses energy efficient strategies for municipal wastewater treatment facilities, which involves LED lighting.

Corrosion Resistance: Wastewater treatment plants are exposed to a corrosive environment due to the presence of chemicals and moisture. Therefore, lighting fixtures need to be corrosion-resistant to withstand these conditions.

Wastewater Treatment Processes: Lighting needs vary throughout the treatment process. For example, primary settling tanks may require lower-intensity lighting, while inspection and maintenance areas may need brighter illumination.

Emergency Lighting: Emergency lighting is critical in case of power outages or other emergencies. It ensures that evacuation routes are well-lit and that workers can safely shut down equipment if needed.

Energy Efficiency: Many wastewater treatment plants are making efforts to reduce energy consumption. Switching to energy-efficient lighting options like LEDs not only saves on energy costs but also reduces maintenance needs.

Lighting Controls: Advanced lighting control systems are used to adjust the intensity of lighting in different areas based on occupancy and time of day. This helps further save energy and extend the lifespan of the fixtures.

Upkeep and Maintenance: Regular maintenance of lighting fixtures is essential. Corroded or malfunctioning lights should be replaced promptly to maintain safety and visibility.

Proper lighting in wastewater treatment plants is essential for safety, compliance, and efficient operations. It involves selecting the right type of fixtures, ensuring corrosion resistance, and implementing energy-efficient solutions to meet the specific needs of each area within the facility. Regular maintenance and adherence to regulations are key aspects of effective lighting management in wastewater treatment plants.
