Explosion Proof Linear Lighting Fixtures
An explosion proof LED strip light is a linear style light that’s specifically designed to operate in some of the harshest environments. The fixture comes in several lengths including 2 feet and 4 feet and generally has a width of 1 foot. The straight linear design of this fixture produces a rectangular beam of light which makes them ideal for illuminating hallways, walkways, and other large areas within hazardous environments.
Many areas such as machine shops and storage facilities use linear style lighting to provide adequate illumination throughout their workspace. Explosion proof linear lighting comes into play when there are flammable gasses or ignitable fibers within the environment.

Types of Explosion Proof LED Strip Lights
4 FT Explosion Proof Strip Lights - 4 foot explosion proof strip lights are long linear hazardous area lighting fixtures that provide broad illumination in a straight pattern. These lights can be mounted on the ceiling, wall, or on poles.
2 FT Explosion Proof Strip Lights - 2 foot explosion proof strip lights are shorter linear hazardous area lighting fixtures that provide more focused lighting in a straight pattern. These lights can be mounted on the ceiling, wall, or on poles. They can fit in smaller areas as opposed to 4 foot linear strip lights.
Vapor Tight Explosion Proof Strip Lights - An explosion proof vapor proof LED strip light is a linear style light that’s specifically designed to operate in some of the harshest indoor and outdoor environments. The fixture comes in several lengths including 2 feet and 4 feet and generally has a width of around 1 foot.
Explosion Proof Strip Lighting Applications
Explosion proof LED strip linear lights are highly versatile blast proof lighting fixtures that are most commonly mounted on ceilings and used to cast illumination from high ceiling heights, typically ranging between 15-40 feet high. This fixture can also be mounted on walls with or without a junction box and can even be pole mounted. As a result, there are a very wide range of applications for this type of light. Here are some of the most common uses,
- Power Plants (including nuclear, coal, etc)
- On-Shore and Off-Shore Oil Rigs
- Hazardous Materials Storage
- Hazardous Materials Processing
- Grain Processing and Storage
- Coal and Mineral Mining
- Food and Alcohol Storage
- Marine Applications (docks, shipyards, etc.)
- Paint Warehouses
- Bio Research Facilities
Oil Refinery
Power Generation
Metal Treatment
Food Industry
Class 1 Division 1/Division 2 Lights
Our linear shaped LED lights for hazardous areas are Class 1 Division 1 (C1D1) and/or Class 1 Division 2 (C1D2) certified. This means that these fixtures are designed to withstand flammable gasses, vapor, or liquids, as well as lower risk particles such as combustible dusts and ignitable fibers/flyings. In other words, these lighting fixtures can operate in virtually any hazardous environment.
LED Explosion Proof Strip Light Mounting
Ceiling Mounting - Explosion proof linear LED lights can be mounted on ceilings inside hazardous areas. The fixture can be mounted to the ceiling using a U-shaped yoke mounting bracket; mounting accessories are included with the light.
Chain Mounting - Can be hung from the ceiling with supporting chains.
Wall Mounting - These linear lights can also be mounted on other flat surfaces such as walls using the yoke mounting bracket.
Pole Mounting - Explosion proof linear lighting fixtures can also be mounted on light poles either inside or outside a facility. You can install this fixture to a light pole by punch tapping on the top of the mounting bracket and tightening the set screw onto the pole and using the chain to balance the fixture. The pole length can be adjustable.
